Scottish winter climbing is a unique experience, with high quality climbing in transient conditions in wild places. It is no surprise that winter mountaineering and climbing in Scotland is internationally famous. ‘Storm lashed or frost bound*’, no two days are likely to yield the same winter experience.

During the winter season Mountain Assurance offers winter mountaineering and climbing instruction and guiding in the Cairngorms, Creag Meagaidh, Ben Nevis and Glencoe.
Ben Nevis offers superb ice and mixed routes due to the mountains elevation and position close to the coast, ensuring the build up of reliable ice on the North Face. The Cairngorms offer excellent mixed climbing following the first snow falls of the winter, and can often be accessible for early season climbing in November and December.
For those keen to spread their wings and prepared to travel, the North West Highlands are within striking distance offering a wilderness experience like no other.
